Mondays

Turda Salt Mine
Only 30 minutes away, this salt mine will blow you away. From a mine that has 16 echoes, to rowing in a subterranean lake, to walking through the vast chambers, this is truly an awe-inspiring experience, and not one to be missed. For guests arriving this day from Cluj, feel free to join us.
Tuesdays

Alba Iulia Citadel
A star-shaped fortress, this is one of the most significant urban locations in all of Romania. See old Roman ruins, a 12th century church, statues honoring heroes, torture chambers, and an intricate tunnel system used to fend off attackers.
Wednesdays

UNESCO Sites
This all day trip is perfect for those interested in fortified cities and churches. We’re lucky to have 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites, Sighisoara, a fairy-tale like fortified city, and Biertan, a very impressive hill perched fortified church, near by. There’s much more on this trip, including lunch. An incredible experience and a must see!
Thursdays

Farmer's Market Tour
Join us as we purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for our home cook meals. We'll also visit butcher shops (pork is always in a different store from chicken and beef), sample langos, eat the best ice cream around, and meet the reportedly best mici maker in all of Romania.
Fridays

Castle Ruin and Rimetea
This is an active outing, walking through wild flower filled meadows to a hilltop castle ruin with beautiful expansive views. Then we head to Rimetea (Torocko in Hungarian), a Europa Nostra site, a Szekely mining town with a very interesting history.
Saturdays

Surprise Saturday
During the summer there are wonderful events, concerts, cultural gathering and more that are scheduled in one of the many villages and towns near by.. Saturday morning will be devoted to one of these activities, or we go on a hike, visit a winery, take a bike ride. Lots of amazing options.
Sundays

Family and Religion
If interested, we may visit some of Lunca Muresului's churches for Sunday service:
-
Two Orthodox churches
-
A Reformation church built in 1676
-
A Catholic church (only open every 6 weeks)
-
A Maremurus wooden church, built in 1723, and not open to the public (but is included on our Tuesday village tour)
The afternoon is reserved for relaxtion, light farm work, and for preparing and sharing dinner with the Basa family.
The Transylvanian countryside has so many beautiful vistas. It's a feast for the eyes.
